Anurag Basu's much-anticipated romantic drama Metro In Dino hit theatres on July 4, marking a spiritual sequel to his 2007 cult classic Life in a… Metro. Arriving 18 years after the original, the film has generated buzz with its emotional storytelling and ensemble cast. Featuring stars like Aditya Roy Kapur and Sara Ali Khan, Metro In Dino delves into the complexities of urban relationships in a modern setting — much like its predecessor.
The film’s initial reception from audiences and critics has been positive, with praise for its soulful music, layered characters, and poignant storytelling. With a rich narrative interwoven with multiple storylines, Metro In Dino brings together an impressive cast that includes Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Pankaj Tripathi. Interestingly, Konkona Sen Sharma is the only actor to appear in both Life in a… Metro and its spiritual successor.
For viewers eager to watch the film from the comfort of their homes, the good news is that Metro In Dino will be available on Netflix after its theatrical run. The streaming platform was officially confirmed as the film’s OTT partner — a detail prominently featured on the film’s promotional posters. Although the exact OTT release date hasn't been announced yet, films typically arrive on streaming services 45 to 60 days after their theatrical debut. This means fans can expect Metro In Dino to hit Netflix sometime in late August or early September 2025.

In a recent interview, Konkona Sen Sharma fondly remembered her time working with the late Irrfan Khan and director Anurag Basu on Life in a… Metro, sharing how both men brought a laid-back, creative energy to the set. “Like him, Irrfan had a very relaxed and easy vibe. Neither of them take their art very seriously. They were casual and relaxed somehow on Life In A… Metro set. It was a very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere on set,” she said.
Metro In Dino was officially announced in 2022 and finally made its theatrical debut in 2025. With strong performances, a modern take on love and life, and Basu’s signature narrative style, it’s a film to watch out for — both in theatres and soon on Netflix.
