Malaika Arora's father, Anil Mehta, allegedly died by suicide on Wednesday (September 11) after jumping from the sixth floor of the Ayesha Manor building in Bandra. Police sources, according to India Today, revealed that he had made a final call to his daughters, Malaika and Amrita Arora, before turning off his phone. He reportedly told them, "I am sick and tired." Despite their efforts to convince him otherwise, Anil Mehta switched off his phone.
Following the incident, the police recorded statements from Malaika, Amrita, and their mother on Thursday. The family recounted their final conversation with Anil Mehta and expressed their shock at his actions. The authorities are expected to further investigate by speaking with his doctor and other relatives.

Malaika Arora shared an emotional statement on Instagram, expressing the family's grief. She wrote, "We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of our dear father, Anil Mehta. He was a gentle soul, a devoted grandfather, a loving husband, and our best friend. Our family is in deep shock over this loss, and we kindly request privacy from the media and well-wishers during this difficult time. We appreciate your understanding, support, and respect."
Anil Mehta’s last rites were performed at the Santacruz Hindu Crematorium on September 12. Several prominent figures from the film industry attended to support Malaika and her family, including Arbaaz Khan, Arjun Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, and Farah Khan, among others.
