Nitanshi Goel, one of the stars of Kiran Rao's Laapataa Ladies recently shared her experience of having to miss her Class 11 exams for film promotions. The film has gained significant recognition, as it has been selected as India’s official entry for the Oscars next year, marking a noteworthy achievement for the young actor and the entire team.

During an appearance on Ranveer Allahbadia’s podcast, Nitanshi opened up about the challenges she faced while balancing her studies with her burgeoning acting career. “I have gotten very supportive friends and teachers. Because my promotions were going on, I could not take my final exams. I took them later for 11th standard,” she explained. This revelation sheds light on the dedication required not only from the cast and crew of the film but also from young actors like Nitanshi who are pursuing their dreams while managing academic responsibilities.

Nitanshi recalled a touching moment during her delayed exams when a teacher approached her with kind words of encouragement. “During the exam, a teacher came to me and said, ‘You’ve done such good work!’” she remembered fondly. The support she received from her teachers and classmates made the experience easier. An invigilator even suggested, “Listen, let her complete her exam; then we all will get a chance to talk to her, click selfies with her, and tell her how good she was.” Such gestures from her peers demonstrate a strong sense of camaraderie and support, especially in the competitive environment of school.

Now, as she progresses into her final year of high school, Nitanshi is focused on her studies, stating, “I’m now in class 12, studying commerce, and I’ll of course give the board exams, which will be next year.” This commitment to her education is commendable, especially considering the demands of the film industry.

Laapataa Ladies is set in a fictional state called Nirmal Pradesh in 2001 and revolves around the lives of two brides, Phool and Pushpa, who accidentally swap places during a train journey. The storyline unfolds with one bride being taken home by the other’s groom while the other is left stranded at a railway station. The plot thickens as a police officer, played by Ravi Kishan, takes it upon himself to investigate the intriguing case. The film's unique premise has drawn attention and garnered praise, further highlighted by its selection for the Oscars.

Presented by Jio Studios and produced by Aamir Khan Productions alongside Kiran Rao's Kindling Productions, Laapataa Ladies is a collaborative effort that showcases the creative talents behind it. Co-produced by Aamir Khan, Kiran Rao, and Jyoti Deshpande, the film is now available for streaming on Netflix India, making it accessible to a broader audience.

Nitanshi's journey reflects the struggles and triumphs of young artists in the entertainment industry, especially in a country where balancing education and career aspirations can be particularly challenging.
