Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor recently opened up about the personal lives of her parents, veteran actors Randhir Kapoor and Babita Kapoor, revealing a touching and unique family story. In a candid interview with Mojo Story, Kareena shared that although her parents separated in 1988, they never filed for divorce. Now, decades later, they have made the heartfelt decision to spend their old age together, rekindling their companionship in their later years.

Speaking about her unconventional family dynamic, Kareena reflected on how she and her sister Karisma grew up primarily under the care of their mother, Babita. However, despite the separation, both Randhir and Babita continued to play integral roles in their daughters’ lives. Kareena said, "Everyone’s parents are the best parents in the world. And my parents are the best parents in the world. Now, they have decided to just spend their old age holding hands together because that’s where their journey started, and that’s exactly where they are together."

This emotional reunion of sorts between her parents has brought a sense of closure and fulfillment for the Kapoor sisters. Kareena elaborated, “That is something that has come a full circle for Karisma and me, which is absolutely, it’s like a divine kind of intervention which has happened. Individually, I think both of them have been wonderful because I mean my father has always supported whatever I wanted to do in my life. They were very supportive."

Randhir Kapoor and Babita’s love story began in the early 1970s when they met while working in films. They got married in 1971 and starred together in projects like Kal Aaj Aur Kal. However, their relationship faced difficulties stemming from differing views, particularly regarding Babita’s career and her desire for independence. Babita eventually stepped away from acting after marriage, conforming to traditional expectations at the time. The couple parted ways in 1988, with Babita moving out and raising Karisma and Kareena largely on her own.

Despite their separation, the couple never officially divorced. They maintained a cordial relationship over the years and were often seen together at family gatherings, celebrations, and public events. This mutual respect and affection endured even as they lived separate lives.

Kareena also acknowledged the important role both her parents played in her and Karisma's journey in Bollywood. She shared that Randhir always respected their choices, and that Babita’s strength allowed them to thrive. “My father has always supported whatever I wanted to do… and I think he also appreciated that my mother brought us up in a way that allowed us to be who we are and make an impact in our own way.”

On the professional front, Kareena Kapoor is all set to star in Daayra, directed by Meghna Gulzar and co-starring Prithviraj Sukumaran. Sharing her enthusiasm, Kareena posted, "As I celebrate 25 incredible years in Hindi cinema, I'm thrilled to announce my next film, Daayra, with the incredible Meghna Gulzar in the director’s chair… Daayra promises to be a cinematic experience that challenges and inspires."
