Well-known television actor Arjun Bijlani’s New Year began with a sorrowful event. On January 1, 2026, the actor's father-in-law, Rakesh Chandra Swami, passed away. Following the immersion of his ashes in the Ganga, he turned to social media and wrote a touching tribute to his father-in-law, who played a vital role in his life.

Arjun shared several pictures with his deceased father-in-law, Rakesh Chandra Swami, on his Instagram account. Expressing his sorrow over the loss of a father figure, the actor-host wrote, “Om Shanti Papa!! Aapki baatein aur seekh sada hamare saath rahengi…!! Neha aur Ayaan ka dhyan poori tarah se rakhunga, chinta na karo. !! Always love you! Sri Rakesh Chandra Swami !! 1956 - 2026 !! #omshanti (sic.)

Arjun’s father-in-law experienced a brain stroke on December 29, 2025. He was promptly taken to Bellevue Hospital, where he was placed on a ventilator. Shortly, Neha and Arjun came back from their Dubai vacation to be with their sick father. Unfortunately, they had to say their last farewells to him on the initial day of 2026.

As reported by ANI, his last rites were conducted at the Oshiwara crematorium. Several television personalities, including Nia Sharma, Chetna Panday, and Kanika Mann, were present at the funeral. Arjun had a strong bond with his father-in-law. At his funeral, the actor was spotted in tears as he embraced his son, Ayaan.

Rakesh Chandra Swami is left behind by his daughter, Neha Swami, and his son, Nishank Swami. A day earlier, the family immersed Rakesh’s ashes in the Ganga. Subsequently, Nishank turned to his Instagram account and conveyed the sorrow of losing his father.

In the captions, the mourning son expressed, “I haven’t even come to terms with what occurred. It still seems like you’ll return to my room at any moment. I continually yearn for that embrace and those final words that I didn't realize would be the end. Performing your asthi visarjan—observing the final remnants of you disappearing felt akin to losing you once more.”

Moneycontrol.com offers deepest condolences to Arjun, his wife Neha, and their entire family.
