The circulated images depict Darshan Thoogudeepa smoking a cigarette and holding a cup while incarcerated. He is seen sitting with three other men, sipping coffee and laughing about something. These photos, allegedly captured by a fellow inmate, have raised significant security concerns within the prison.
In response to the viral images, the prison department has summoned top jail officials for an investigation. This incident highlights potential security breaches and raises questions about the extent of privileges granted to high-profile inmates.
Kannada actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, one of the 16 individuals accused of the murder of Renukaswamy, has been detained at Parappana Agrahara Central Jail since his arrest on June 11.
Last month, according to reports the actor was experiencing health issues while incarcerated which led him to faint inside the jail, causing injuries.
Renuka Swamy, a resident of Chitradurga, was allegedly kidnapped and murdered. His body was discovered in Bengaluru, prompting the registration of a murder case and subsequent arrests. Darshan Thoogudeepa, along with Gowda and 15 others, were apprehended in connection with the crime.
