Jaideep Ahlawat is gearing up for the release of his upcoming Netflix film, Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, which stars Saif Ali Khan in the lead role. Now there are reports that Jaideep Ahlawat was approached for the role of Vibhishan in Nitesh Tiwari's upcoming Ramayana and the actor had to let go of it.
A source close to the actor told MoneyControl, Jaideep was indeed approached but had to decline it owing to unavailability of dates.
There were also reports that Tamil actor Vijay Sethupathi was in talks to play the role last year. However, the film’s production started shooting with some of the actors yet to be finalised.
The upcoming Ramayana features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor as Ram. The actor has reported to have already started filming with Sai Pallavi, who stars as Sita, being recently spotted at the set. Yash stars as Ravana in the film and has notably completed the shooting of the film.

Other prominent cast members include Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman and Kunal Kapoor as Lord Indra. They are yet to start the shooting. The film is said to be made with a budget of Rs 835 crore and will be released in two parts.
Meanwhile, Jaideep Ahlawat was last seen in his hit series Pataal Lok Season 2 and recent film, Maharaj. He is set to play the lead antagonist in Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins, which will premiere on April 25. He is also speculated to star in the upcoming film, Ikkis.
