Popular Japanese idol and TV personality Murakami Shingo has shared joyous news with fans — he’s getting married.
In a heartfelt handwritten letter published by his agency, Starto Entertainment (formerly Johnny's & Associates), the adored SUPER EIGHT member, who has been in the public eye for almost thirty years, announced his marriage.
The 43-year-old thanked everyone who has helped him along the way and looked back on his lengthy career in the entertainment business in his message.
“I wish everyone good health and success in this beautiful autumn season.
As I approach my 30th anniversary in the entertainment industry, there have been mountains and valleys along the way, but thankfully, things have come to a smooth close — and I will be getting married.”
Murakami went on to request privacy and understanding, revealing that his partner is not a celebrity.
“Since my partner is a non-celebrity, I would deeply appreciate it if you could quietly watch over us.”
He also took a moment to thank his bandmates and fans for their unwavering encouragement throughout his career, acknowledging how much their love and trust have shaped him both as a performer and as a person.
“As a member of SUPER EIGHT, being supported and guided by my trusted colleagues has always allowed me to look toward a bright future. And the long journey I’ve shared with all of you, my fans, has illuminated my path. I cannot fully express how grateful I am for the strength and comfort you’ve all given me. I’ll continue to work hard so that you can keep enjoying my activities.
Please continue to support me warmly. Thank you very much.”

News of Murakami’s marriage comes just months after he was photographed with a woman believed to be his girlfriend. Reports at the time suggested that she was in her 20s — around 20 years younger than Murakami — though the star chose not to comment on the rumours.
Having debuted with SUPER EIGHT (formerly Kanjani Eight) in 2004, Murakami has become one of Japan’s most recognisable entertainers, known for his humour, charm, and down-to-earth personality.
Fans have flooded social media with messages of love and congratulations, praising his sincerity and wishing him lifelong happiness.
