Brooklyn Beckham has issued a powerful public statement accusing his parents, David and Victoria Beckham, of trying to control major aspects of his life and damaging his marriage to Nicola Peltz. The 26-year-old shared a six-page message on social media, saying he had refrained from speaking out for years but felt compelled to do so after ongoing media stories about his private life. He stressed that he does not want to reconcile with his family and is asserting his independence for the first time.
In his statement, he wrote that his parents tried to control his life and hurt his marriage. "Unfortunately, my parents and their team have continued to go to the press, leaving me with no choice but to speak for myself and tell the truth about only some of the lies that have been printed. I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life," his statement read.
He added, "Recently, I have seen with my own eyes the lengths that they'll go through to place countless lies in the media, mostly at the expense of innocent people, to preserve their own facade. But I believe the truth always comes out."
Brooklyn said his mother, Victoria, backed out at the last minute from designing Nicola’s wedding dress despite Nicola’s excitement about it, forcing her to find an alternative on short notice. He also recalled an incident where his first dance, meant for him and Nicola, was replaced by his mother dancing with him, which he described as “uncomfortable and humiliating.” In response to this painful memory, Brooklyn and Nicola renewed their vows in 2025 without his parents.
Brooklyn further accused his parents of pressuring him shortly before the wedding to sign away rights to his name, a move he refused that he says affected his future earnings and altered their relationship. He said they also made disparaging remarks about Nicola and prioritised “Brand Beckham” over authentic family ties.

The statement concluded with Brooklyn describing a reduction in his anxiety since distancing from his parents and emphasising his desire for a private, peaceful life with Nicola and their future family. As of now, the Beckhams have not publicly responded to these claims.
