Hollywood actor George Clooney is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film, Jay Kelly, and was expected to appear at the Venice Film Festival to promote the film. However, he has reportedly skipped the event due to illness.
According to People, George Clooney skipped a dinner with cast members Adam Sandler and Laura Dern and did not attend a press junket for his new movie, Jay Kelly, which was directed by Noah Baumbach.
On his way home to rest for the day, the actor was reportedly spotted getting on a boat at around 4 pm local time to depart from the Hotel Excelsior.
The actor’s representative told the outlet, “Unfortunately, George has a sinus infection and, under doctor’s orders, he has had to scale back his activities today.”
George also reportedly missed the official press conference for the Netflix film on Thursday, August 28.
The press conference's moderator said, “As you may know, George Clooney is not going to be here because he has a bad sinus infection. We really hope, and I think he should be on the red carpet tonight. But he is very sorry he cannot be with us.”
Director Noah Baumbach jokingly chimed in, adding, “Even movie stars get sick.”

For the unversed, the comedy drama revolves around a famous movie actor, Jay Kelly and his devoted manager, Ron, who embark on a whirlwind and unexpectedly profound journey. Both are forced to confront choices they've made, their relationships with loved ones and the legacies they'll leave behind.
The film is directed by Noah Baumbach, who has co-penned the film with Emily Mortimer.
Jay Kelly will have a theatrical run in the U.S. starting on November 14 before hitting Netflix on December 5.
