Singer Dua Lipa wowed the crowd in Mumbai on Saturday with a live performance that included a fan-made mashup of her hit song Levitating and Shah Rukh Khan's iconic track Woh Ladki Jo from the film Baadshah. While the mashup thrilled fans, it also sparked a controversy, as singer Abhijeet Bhattacharya, who originally sang the Bollywood track, felt overlooked in the ensuing social media discussions.
Abhijeet took to Instagram Stories to voice his disappointment, sharing fan comments that emphasised his and music director Anu Malik’s contributions to the original song's popularity. One post stated, “The song is hit and popular because of legends like Abhijeet and Anu Malik!” Another added, “The problem is that no one talks about it. What happened to- Woh Ladki Jo- Abhijeet? Unfortunately, we live in a country where not one news outlet or Instagram page has mentioned the voice and the artists of this song. Why has it always been about actors in this country?”
Abhijeet’s fans argued that the song’s timeless appeal was due to his rendition, not just Shah Rukh Khan’s presence in the film. “I'm sure when @dualipa heard this song she must have heard it and not seen it and not appreciated the man that has sung this song and yes it is not SRK. It is @abhijeetbhattacharya and @anumalikmusic,” one fan remarked.

The sentiment was further echoed in another post which concluded, “This is not about Shah Rukh Khan I'm his biggest fan ever. This is about our audience and about our media who don't support the singers of our country like they do in the west.”
Dua Lipa's concert was a star-studded affair, with notable attendees including Radhika Merchant, Anand Piramal, Ranvir Shorey, and Namrata Shirodkar. However, the highlight of the evening was undoubtedly her performance of the mashup, which received widespread attention online. Videos from the concert quickly went viral, showcasing Dua Lipa's energetic rendition of the blend between Levitating and Woh Ladki Jo.
