Nawazuddin Siddiqui, known for his powerful and nuanced performances, is set to return with another intense role in the upcoming OTT film Costao. The makers dropped the official teaser today, April 14, 2025, giving viewers a sneak peek into a gripping tale of duty, betrayal, and redemption.
In the 1-minute and 37-second teaser, Nawazuddin portrays the character of Costao Fernandes, a respected customs officer whose life spirals into chaos following a high-stakes mission. What begins as a story of patriotism and bravery soon turns into a manhunt, as Costao finds himself falsely accused of murder, becoming India’s ‘most wanted man.’ The teaser is packed with tension, emotion, and action, promising a compelling crime drama with a strong emotional core.
The teaser was unveiled with the caption: “Get ready to witness the extraordinary story of Costao Fernandes, who went from being a legendary customs officer to the most wanted man, accused of m*rder. Coming soon!” This powerful line sets the tone for what seems to be an emotional rollercoaster.
Earlier, the makers had released a striking poster of Nawazuddin in a customs officer's uniform, standing solemnly by the sea. The caption on the poster read, “Before they called him a hero, they called him guilty. #Costao took on Goa’s smuggling network with nothing but grit and guts,” hinting at the intense journey ahead.
Presented by Bhanushali Studios Limited in association with Bombay Fables Motion Pictures, Costao is inspired by the real-life story of Mr. Costao Fernandes, a principled officer from Goa who took on the biggest gold smuggling racket in the 1990s.
Directed by Sejal Shah, the film also stars Priya Bapat, Kishore Kumar Huli, Gagan Dev Riar, and Hussain Dalal. It is produced by Vinod Bhanushali, Kamlesh Bhanushali, Bhavesh Mandalia, Sejal Shah, Shyam Sunder, and Faizuddin Siddiqui. Costao will be available on ZEE5, with the release date to be announced soon.
