Chiranjeevi, Vyjayanthimala honoured with Padma Vibhushan, see pics

Veteran actress Vyjayanthimala along with Telugu superstar Chiranjeevi were conferred Padma awards by President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday (May 9).

Along with the actors, the first woman judge of the Supreme Court late M Fathima Beevi and "Bombay Samachar" owner Hormusji N Cama were among the eminent persons conferred Padma awards.

While 90-year-old Vijyantimala and Chiranjeevi were given Padma Vibhushan, Beevi, Cama, Rajagopal, Vijayakant, Rinpochey and Vyas were conferred Padma Bhushan.

Chiranjeevi was dressed smartly in bandhgala suit to receive the prestigious award. Also present at the felicitation was his son and actor Rama Charan Teja along with daughter-in-law Upsana Kamineni Konidela. Both looked proud of their father and cheered for him in the crowd. 

Family members of Beevi, Vijayakant and Rinpochey received the awards.

Tamil actor late "Captain" Vijayakant (posthumous), group editor and CEO of Gujarati newspaper "Janmabhoomi" Kundan Vyas were also conferred Padma awards at a civil investiture ceremony held at the Rashtrapati Bhawan.

The awards are announced on the eve of Republic Day every year. The list comprises five Padma Vibhushan, 17 Padma Bhushan and 110 Padma Shri awards. Thirty of the awardees are women.
