Sanjay Leela Bhansali wraps Mumbai schedule of Love & War, heads to Italy for the grand finale; Eid 2026 release on the cards

With his trademark blend of passion, style, and extravagance, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is poised to enthral audiences once more.

Love & War, his eagerly anticipated film, has officially concluded its Mumbai run. In keeping with his epic storytelling, the director is now bringing the film to Italy for an amazing finale.

Bhansali, who is known for creating visual poetry on screen, reportedly turned parts of Mumbai into a slice of 1970s Italy for the first leg of the shoot. Complete with vintage architecture, cobbled streets, and romantic hues, the sets reflected the director’s unmatched eye for detail.

According to a source close to the production, “Sanjay Leela Bhansali recreated 1970s Italy right here in Mumbai for Love & War. Around ten days of filming were completed before Diwali, and the final 20-day schedule, featuring the film’s grand climax, is expected to take place by December 2025 in Italy. The team is eyeing an Eid 2026 release.”

The film stars Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal — a trio that has already sent fans into a frenzy. With three of the industry’s most acclaimed performers under Bhansali’s direction, expectations for Love & War couldn’t be higher.

Additionally, this is Bhansali's first feature since Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022), which won praise from audiences all over the world for its exquisite craftsmanship and depth of emotion.

Although the plot is still unknown, people close to the situation characterise it as a passionate, loyal, and heartbreaking romantic drama with a politically and emotionally charged backdrop.

The film will reportedly come to a dramatic conclusion with the Italy leg, which is anticipated to feature expansive European landscapes and Bhansali's trademark visual opulence.

Love & War is already being hailed as one of the biggest cinematic events of 2026 because of its outstanding cast, nostalgic setting, and Bhansali's unique style.
