Former Bollywood actress Somy Ali has shared an emotional message for veteran screenwriter Salim Khan, describing him as a “father figure” and expressing deep concern about his current health.

The heartfelt wish comes as Salim Khan — father of superstar Salman Khan — remains hospitalised in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai following a sudden health scare earlier this week that has drawn widespread attention across the film fraternity and public alike.

Somy Ali took to social media to convey her speedy recovery wishes to Salim Khan, saying that hearing about his hospitalization “made my heart sink.” She wrote, “Hearing that Salim Khan has been hospitalized made my heart sink. To the world, he is a legendary writer who helped shape icons like Amitabh Bachchan and co-created masterpieces like Sholay. To me, he was a father figure.”

She further added, “Living in his home, I was treated like a daughter, included at the table, engaged in deep conversations about faith, where all religions were respected and celebrated. He taught me that God is bigger than doctrine, and that storytelling must always carry truth beneath the drama. His brilliance built cinematic history. His humanity built people. Praying for his strength and recovery. He means more to me than words can say.”

Salim Khan, 90, was admitted to Lilavati Hospital’s ICU on Tuesday after his health reportedly deteriorated. According to official medical updates, he is currently under close observation by a team of specialists and is said to be stable, though doctors are monitoring him carefully. The hospital has indicated that a detailed press bulletin will be released once the family gives consent to share more information.

Earlier, several members of the Khan family — including Salman Khan, his sisters, and other relatives — have been spotted visiting the legendary screenwriter at the hospital, underscoring a united family front during this difficult time. Salim Khan’s contributions to Hindi cinema as part of the iconic Salim-Javed duo — responsible for classic films such as Sholay, Deewar and Zanjeer — have made him a beloved figure in the industry for decades.
