Veteran screenwriter Salim Khan is reportedly in the Lilavati Hospital, recovering from a blood clot after sudden hospitalisation. Fans have been waiting for an update on Salman Khan’s father’s health, and Javed Akhtar has the latest update.
During a book launch event in New Delhi on Thursday evening, Javed Akhtar interacted with the audience and also spoke briefly about his longtime collaborator and close friend Salim Khan.
He shared an update on Salim Khan’s health and said, “Salim is fine now. He’s okay and recovering. He’s sitting on a chair and talking, and I mean, he has improved.”
Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar famously formed the legendary screenwriting duo Salim–Javed, responsible for several landmark Hindi films in the 1970s.
For the unversed, Salim Khan was rushed to Lilavati Hospital on February 17, 2026, and is currently on ventilator support.
Dr Jalil Parkar spoke to the reporters outside the hospital on Wednesday and revealed that Salim Khan had suffered a minor brain haemorrhage, following which a routine procedure was carried out.
The doctor said, “He was having jerks and his blood pressure was high. We treated him. We had to put him on a ventilator so that he would not worsen. It wasn’t because he was critical. We did the investigations that were required.”
“Today, we have done a small procedure on him. I will not go into its details. He is fine. He is stable. He has been shifted to the ICU. By tomorrow, he will be off the ventilator. He is doing quite well. Age is a factor, I understand. That is why the process of recovery will take time," he added.
Salman Khan and his family have been since in and out of the hospital. They are yet to officially provide an update on Salim Khan’s health.
