Salman Khan pays emotional tribute to veteran actor Asrani, calls him a “legend”

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan paid an emotional tribute to veteran actor Govardhan Asrani, calling him a “legend” on social media following his passing on October 20. Asrani, known for his iconic comic roles in over 350 films, left an indelible mark on Indian cinema.

Bollywood superstar Salman Khan has recently honoured veteran actor Govardhan Asrani. The actor recently posted a photo of Asrani, paying an emotional tribute to him.

Salman took to his X (formerly Twitter) handle and paid a tribute, calling Asrani a “legend.”

Salman tweeted, “Saddened to hear of Asrani Ji’s demise. A true legend of laughter #RIP."

Salman is the latest addition to the list of celebrities who have paid tribute to the veteran actor. Many people, including Bollywood stars Kajol, Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, and Kareena Kapoor, as well as Prime Minister Narendra Modi, paid their final respects to Asrani on social media.

Veteran actor Govardhan Asrani, known by his stage name Asrani, passed away on October 20. He was 84. Asrani's close friend claims that the actor died in Mumbai from a chest infection. On the same day, his final ceremonies were held at Santacruz Crematorium.

The official Instagram account of the veteran actor confirmed the news of his death with an official statement.

The statement reads, “The news of the passing of the king of comedy, the great actor Asrani ji, who ruled over millions of hearts, has plunged us all into deep sorrow. He gave Indian cinema a new identity with his unique acting, simplicity, and humour.”

It continued, “The life he breathed into every character will forever live on in our memories. His passing is not just a loss for the film industry but for everyone who ever smiled at his acting. May his soul rest in peace. Om Shanti.”

With a career spanning over 50 years, Asrani was one of the most adored comic actors in Indian cinema. He made an impact in both leading and supporting comedic roles in more than 350 films.

One of his most famous roles was that of the jailer in Sholay, where he made a hilarious parody of Hitler that is still remembered today. He was also known for his roles in classics like Chala Murari Hero Banne, Aaj Ki Taaza Khabar, and Chupke Chupke.
