Malaika Arora, known for redefining Bollywood’s dance numbers with her unmatched energy and style, recently shared an amusing truth about her biggest critic, her son, Arhaan Khan. While the actor has delivered iconic performances in songs like Chaiyya Chaiyya, Gur Naal Ishq Mitha, Munni Badnaam Hui, and her latest, Poison Baby, she revealed that her son doesn’t hesitate to tease her about her signature moves.
At the launch event of Poison Baby in Mumbai, Malaika spoke candidly about her son’s honest feedback. “He’s fab when he dances. He’s superb. Thank God he’s got my dancing genes in him. He dances very well,” she said proudly. Malaika shares Arhaan with her former husband, actor Arbaaz Khan.
Arhaan, who’s grown up watching his mother rule the stage, apparently has a soft spot for one of her most famous songs, Munni Badnaam Hui. “That’s his all-time favorite,” Malaika smiled. But while he appreciates her legacy, he’s equally unfiltered about her performances. “He’ll be like, ‘Come on, Mom, let’s do this together,’ and then he’ll make fun of me for the entire day. He’ll be like, ‘Please, you can’t dance like that,’” she admitted, laughing.
Talking about her return to full-fledged dance performances, Malaika shared that Poison Baby felt like a refreshing challenge. “It’s been years since I led a full-blown dance number like this in a film, and stepping into Poison Baby felt electric. The choreography blends moves and expressions, and I wanted the performance to feel dangerous, beautiful, and untamed—all at the same time,” she said.
Poison Baby features Malaika sharing the screen with Rashmika Mandanna, marking a rare collaboration between two powerhouse performers. Sung by Jasmine Sandlas, Sachin-Jigar, and Divya Kumar, the song will appear in Thamma, the fifth film in Maddock Films’ horror-comedy universe after Stree, Bhediya, Munjya, and Stree 2.
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar and produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, Thamma stars Ayushmann Khurrana as the male lead with Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the villain. The film, described as a “bloody love story,” is set to release in theatres this Diwali on October 21.
