The decision to abandon a secure and prosperous television career in favour of a more uncertain future in films is a significant turning point in the life of actor Lakshya, who has been in the news for his increasing prominence in Bollywood.
In an open discussion with Ranveer Allahbadia on his podcast, the actor considered the bravery required to abandon comfort and financial stability in order to pursue his passion.
Ranveer shared that he had spoken to filmmaker Tarun, who expressed admiration for Lakshya’s bold move. He said that I met Ramesh and told him that Lakshya will be coming on the show. He said, congratulate him and ask him — ‘kitte guts lage ek 30 lakh per annum ki salary chorrne ke liye and kitne guts lage to go into an uncertain future?(How much guts does it take to leave a ₹30 lakh per annum salary And how much courage does it take to step into an uncertain future?)"
Ranveer further asked, "TV main agar aap ek established face ho toh kamai bhot zyada chhi hoti hai aur predictable hoti hai, guts lagte hai to leave it and then to go into this. Toh kaise kia yeh sab bhai? (If you're an established face on TV, the earnings are quite high and predictable. It really takes guts to leave all that and step into something like this. So how did you do it, brother?)”
Responding with honesty, Lakshya admitted that the decision was not something he had planned meticulously. “Nahi pata yaar, kuch nahi pata, abhi koi baat krta hai toh jaise aap baat krre ho toh lgta hai yaar kaise hua hoga yeh. Lekin as you rightly said ki TV ke andar kya hota hai na per day ka system hota hai, aapko harr din ki dihaadi milti hai, din ka 15000, 25000, 20000 mera price bhi acha khaasa jaa chuka tha uss time pr (I don’t even know, yaar. Honestly, no idea. Now when someone talks about it — like you’re asking me — it really makes me think, how did all of this even happen? But as you rightly said, in TV, there’s a per-day system — you get paid for each day you shoot. Rs 15,000, Rs 20,000, Rs 25,000 a day… my rate had also gone up quite a bit at that time.)"
Lakshya continued by sharing a touching story about his father that demonstrated the gravity of his choice. “Aur bhi mujhe yaad hai, maine apne pita ji ko phone kia maine kaha papa mera Porus khatam hochukka hai, ek aur show offer hora hai, Zee TV se tha... voh keh rhe hai lele na kya problem hai, jitna tere din ki per day hai utna mere poore mahine ki salary hoti thi toh lele kya buri baat hai (I still remember — I called my father and told him, “Papa, Porus has ended, and there’s another show offer, it’s from Zee TV. He said, “Take it, what’s the problem? What you earn in a single day, I used to earn in an entire month — so what’s wrong in taking it?)”
However, Lakshya admitted that despite the financial temptation, he felt a deep exhaustion — both physical and creative. “Lekin tab mujhe yeh tha ki Porus jis Tarah ka show tha, maine sab kuch krlia tha uske andar, aur kahin ka kahin thakkawat thi mere andar... thakk chukka tha mere andar as an artist. Aap agar 12 ghante shoot krre ho, 28 din lagataar ek hee shoot par... toh ek thakawatt thi, fatigue jisko hum kehte hai aur ek health wise bhi main theek nahi tha ( But at that time, what I felt was — after doing a show like Porus, where I had given everything I had, there was a kind of exhaustion within me… I was drained as an artist. When you’re shooting for 12 hours a day, 28 days straight on the same project, it takes a toll. There was that fatigue — the kind we all talk about — and honestly, even health-wise, I wasn’t doing well)"
On the work front, Lakshya was last seen in the succesful Bad Of Bollywood series, directed by Aryan Khan.
