Bollywood actor Bobby Deol, who is riding on the success of The Bads of Bollywood, is performing the symbolic Ravana dahan at the historic Red Fort grounds on October 2.
According to Hindustan Times, the actor has been invited by the Luv Kush Ramlila Committee to perform the ceremony. The organisers have shared the video in which the actor expressed his excitement for participating in the annual ceremony.
The actor said in the video, “Dilli ki Ramlila mein iss baar mai aa raha hai… Toh milte hain Dussehra par (This time May is coming to Delhi's Ramlila... so we will meet on Dussehra).”
The actor’s presence at the event is expected to draw a huge crowd. Bobby's participation will give the celebrations more celebrity power, according to Arjun Kumar, president of the Luv Kush Ramlila Committee.
He shared, “Bobby Deol’s participation is expected to make this Dussehra even more spectacular and memorable.”
The Ramlila at the Red Fort will see prominent personalities playing the iconic characters on the stage.
Major Shalu Verma will portray Mandodari, wife of Ravana, in the iconic Lav Kush Ramlila staged at Delhi’s Red Fort. She will share the stage with actor Arya Babbar, who will reprise his role as Ravana.
Previously, actress Poonam Pandey was slated to play the role, but she has been replaced following the controversy.
Meanwhile, Bobby Deol was recently seen in Aryan Khan’s debut directorial, The Bads of Bollywood. He portrays the role of Ajay Talvar, a well-known actor. The actor’s 1997 hit Duniya Haseeno Ka Mela has been revived in the film, with the song surpassing 5 million views on YouTube within just four days.
Bobby Deol is now gearing up for the release of Anurag Kashyap’s Bandar or Monkey in the Cage. He will also be seen in Vijay's starrer Jana Nayagan.
