Hollywood icon Johnny Depp is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 19th Rome Film Festival, where his upcoming directorial project Modi - Three Days on the Wing of Madness will also be screened.

As reported by Deadline, the film will make its way to Rome following its world premiere at the San Sebastian Film Festival later this month. The Rome Film Festival will be held from October 16-27.

Modi explores a "seventy-two-hour whirlwind in the life of bohemian artist Amedeo Modigliani," capturing the chaos and struggles he faced during war-torn Paris in 1916. The film delves into the artist's tumultuous journey through this turbulent period. The film stars Riccardo Scamarcio in the lead role, alongside Antonia Desplat and Hollywood legend Al Pacino.

The synopsis of the film highlights Modigliani's struggles as he evades the police, grappling with the decision to abandon both his career and the city. However, he faces opposition from fellow artists Maurice Utrillo, Chaim Soutine, and his muse, Beatrice Hastings, who urge him to reconsider.

According to Deadline, Modigliani turns to his friend and art dealer Leopold Zborowski for guidance. His night of hallucinations grows more intense, culminating in a pivotal meeting with American collector Maurice Gangnat, whose influence could drastically change the trajectory of his life.

The festival will also recognize Viggo Mortensen with a Lifetime Achievement Award, where he will feature his film The Dead Don't Hurt.

Johnny Depp, renowned for his performances in films such as "Pirates of the Caribbean," "Alice in Wonderland," and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," stepped behind the camera for his directorial debut with 1997's "Brave."
