Kerala exit poll results 2024

The exit poll results for Kerala Lok Sabha elections 2024 were announced on June 1. With 20 Lok Sabha constituencies in contention, the state saw polling on April 26, achieving a voter turnout of 70.35%, down from 77.84% in 2019.

The 2024 Lok Sabha elections is crucial for both the Indian National Congress (INC) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Kerala.

According to the News18 mega exit poll, the NDA is set to open its account in Kerala by bagging one to three seats, while the INDIA Bloc is likely to win 15 to 18 seats in Kerala. Of this, 12 to 15 seats could go to Congress alone, the survey projected. As per the News18 mega exit poll predictions, this will reduce the seat share of the Left to two to five seats in the 2024 general elections. Meanwhile, the vote share of the UDF is expected to stand at 45 percent, LDF at 36, NDA at 16, and Others at 3 percent.

To provide context, Kerala turned out to be a Congress stronghold in the past election. In the 2019 polls, the Indian National Congress (INC) secured majority of the seats in the state, while the NDA failed to win a single one.

In fact, in the previous Lok Sabha elections held in 2019, the direct contest was between the Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) and the CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front (LDF). The NDA votes could play a crucial role in determining whether the UDF can replicate its 2019 performance.

Reacting to exit poll results, Congress MP and candidate from Kerala's Thiruvananthapuram, Shashi Tharoor said that these results are “deeply unscientific” and there is no way the BJP will make inroads in Kerala.

“...We have been travelling throughout the country campaigning and have a sense of what is the reality on the ground. Exit polls are deeply unscientific. Last year, the majority of exit polls got the results wrong in Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan. What we are interested in is the real poll- the votes of the public...BJP will lose significantly in Karnataka and they certainly won't gain in Kerala and Tamil Nadu,” he said.

Other Exit Poll Results

As per VMR, NDA will win one seat while Congress-led UDF will win 19.

C-Voter projected UDF will win 17 to 19 seats while NDA will bag 1-3.

As per Axis My India, the Congress will win 13-14 seats, BJP 2-3 seats, and LDF 0-1.

Over all, all the exit polls predict the NDA opening its account in the state, with the Congress-led UDF sweeping power in the state for another year. BJP's only win in Kerala this year might be its emergence as a third force despite having limited influence as yet. On the other hand, the seat share of the LDF is projected to be reducing significantly by all. Only IPSOS has predicted two to five seats for the Left Democratic Front in this general election.
