Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that if everything goes well in Uttar Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party may win all the 80 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

In an exclusive interview with Network18 Group Editor-in-Chief Rahul Joshi, Shah reiterated that BJP’s ‘Mission 400’ is well on track and the outcome on June 4 will be testimony to the stated figure. “NDA will cross the 400-mark by 12.30 pm on June 4,” stated Shah. In Uttar Pradesh, he said the party will increase its tally by a substantial margin.

He added that PM Narendra Modi is all set to take oath as the Prime Minister for the third consecutive term. Shah’s state-by-state tally comes days after he said that the BJP will cross 100 seats after the first two rounds of polling in a presser in Guwahati, Assam.

Here is Amit Shah’s state-by-state tally:

Uttar Pradesh:

The Home Minister said the saffron party will increase its tally in Uttar Pradesh by 5-7 seats. In 2019, BJP and its ally Apna Dal(S) won 64 of the 80 Lok Sabha seats, demolishing the alliance partners, which got 15 seats between them.

Assam

He added that that BJP will increase its tally in Assam and win 12 seats in the crucial Northeastern state. In 2019, BJP had won nine of the 14 seats, Congress three, one by All India United Democratic Front and the remaining one by an Independent contestant.

Maharashtra

In the politically significant state of Maharashtra, he said the party is well on course to win 40-42 seats. In the 2019 Lok Sabha election, the BJP, which was then in alliance with Uddhav Thackeray’s undivided Shiv Sena, had contested on 25 of the 48 Lok Sabha seats in Maharashtra, winning an impressive 23 of them.
