Need to save country from dictatorship, says Arvind Kejriwal after walking out of Tihar jail

Delhi  Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal was released from Tihar jail on Friday after the Supreme Court granted him interim bail. Arvind Kejriwal left from Tihar in his convoy. He was accompanied by his wife Sunita Kejriwal, his daughter Harshita and AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sandeep Pathak. Kejriwal left from Tihar in his convoy.He was released after staying nearly 50 days in judicial custody.

Kejriwal was arrested in connection with the Delhi liquor policy case on March 21. The court asked him to surrender on June 2. The interim bail is only for campaigning for the Lok Sabha elections – Delhi votes on May 25 – and Kejriwal cannot perform any duty as the CM during the period.

After being released from Tihar Jail, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal said, "I want to thank all of you. You gave me your blessings. I want to thank the judges of the Supreme Court, it is because of them that I am in front of you. We have to save the country from dictatorship."

 


Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal while addressing party workers after being released from Tihar jail said, "Tomorrow at 11 am we will go to the Hanuman Temple at Connaught Place and at 1 pm, we will address a press conference at the party office."The Supreme Court granted him interim bail in the Delhi excise policy case till June 1.

Earlier, Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann reached Tihar jail to receive the Delhi CM.

“Hanuman ji ki jai. This is the victory of democracy. It is the result of the prayers and blessings of millions of people. Many thanks to everyone," Delhi Chief Minister's wife Sunita Kejriwal posted on X.

The AAP workers and supporters gathered in large numbers outside the Tihar jail to watch Kejriwal come out of the jail after the relief from the Supreme Court. A sea of yellow and blue flags were seen floating in the air with slogans like "Jail ke taale toot gaye, Kejriwal ji chhoot gaye" renting the air.
