At the end of the two-day review meetings and consultations with various stakeholders in Bihar, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, dismissing recent charges of 'vote-rigging' by the opposition, said that the elections in India are not only full-proof, but have endless mechanisms to ensure its sanctity.
Addressing a presser in Patna, Kumar added that the assembly polls will be completed before November 22. At the beginning of the press conference, he stated that the SIR process has been successfully completed in the state. He thanked the BLOs who purified the voter lists through SIR.
Highlighting the role of booth-level officers, he said they played a vital role in the poll body's successful completion of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) in the state.
Underlining the new steps taken by the EC which will further solidify the voting mechanism across the nation, Kumar said: Bihar has become the first state in the country where every polling station will now cater to fewer than 1,200 voters. The Election Commission said the move is aimed at reducing long queues and making voting more convenient. This practice will be taken up throughout the country, assured CEC.
