  • Noida Traffic Police issues New Year advisory, diversions in Sector 18 from Dec 31
  • Parking allowed only in designated areas; illegal parking will face penalties
  • Highway celebration stops banned; violators face legal action

As part of preparations for New Year celebrations, the Noida traffic police has issued a detailed traffic advisory for December 31, and January 1, 2026. The advisory aims to manage heavy traffic, regulate crowds and ensure public safety across Gautam Buddh Nagar, especially in busy commercial areas such as Sector 18.

To control the expected rush, traffic diversions will be enforced in Sector 18 from 2 pm on December 31 and will remain in place until New Year celebrations conclude.

Vehicles heading towards the Sector 18 market will be allowed to park only at the Sector 18 multi-level parking facility. After parking, visitors will have to walk to the market area.

Vehicles approaching from Atta Peer Chowk can access the parking facility through the HDFC Bank cut, while those coming from Rajeshwar Tiraaha will also be guided through designated routes.

For exiting the multi-level parking, commuters can use the cut below the Sector 18 Metro Station, both cuts near Mojok Hotel and Bijli Ghar Tiraaha.

However, entry into the Sector 18 market will be restricted from several points. Entry from both cuts near the Gurjara Flyover, below the Sector 18 Metro Station and from both cuts near Mojok Hotel will remain closed.

Stopping on highways strictly banned

The Ghaziabad Traffic Police has strictly prohibited stopping vehicles on major roads for celebrations, selfies, videos, firecrackers or cake cutting.

This ban applies to the Hindon Elevated Road, Eastern Peripheral Expressway, Delhi-Meerut Expressway, Hapur Road and Meerut Road. Police have warned that strict legal action will be taken against violators.

Illegal parking will also invite action. Vehicles parked in no-parking zones on public roads may be challaned, towed or seized as per traffic rules.

Diversions planned at Kisan Chowk

To handle congestion at Kisan Chowk (Gaur City Mall Chowk), several diversion routes have been planned for December 31 and January 1. Traffic moving from Noida towards Ghaziabad will be diverted via Model Town or Chhijarsi routes.

Vehicles travelling from Noida to Greater Noida will be redirected from Pehla Gol Chakkar through Vishwakarma Road, Sainath Tiraaha and Sahibabad.

Traffic coming towards Kisan Chowk from D Park Chowk will be diverted through Chauganpur Gol Chakkar. Vehicles travelling from Ghaziabad to Noida have been advised to avoid Shahdara and the Taj Highway, and instead use Chhijarsi or Model Town routes via Sector 62. Traffic moving towards Greater Noida through Kisan Chowk Pehla will be diverted left from Vishwakarma Hanuman Mandir.

Parking rules near malls

Mall-specific parking arrangements have also been announced. At Gardens Galleria Mall in Sector 18, parking will be allowed only inside the mall premises. The area in front of the mall will be treated as a strict no-parking zone.

Similar rules will apply at Logix City Center Mall, where vehicles must be parked only in designated parking areas. If congestion increases, traffic may be diverted from Logix Tiraaha towards Sector 31–25 Chowk. No-parking violations will attract penalties.

Commercial vehicle curbs

Additional restrictions include a ban on vehicular movement from Somdutt Tower to Tyson Khazana Chowk via Haldiram Chowk. Entry towards Sector 18 from Bijli Ghar Tiraaha will be restricted, and if required, entry from Sector 17–18 Nalco Tiraaha to Nursery Tiraaha may be closed.

Roads from Nursery Tiraaha to Atta Chowk and the Sector 18 Metro Station will be declared no-parking zones.

The entry of heavy, medium and light commercial vehicles coming towards Sector 18 from Sector 60 via the elevated road will be restricted from 3 pm on December 31 until celebrations end.

The Noida Traffic Police has advised commuters to plan their travel in advance, use only designated parking spaces, avoid roadside parking near markets and malls, follow traffic instructions and take alternate routes to reduce congestion.

In case of traffic-related issues, commuters can contact the Traffic Helpline at 99-7109-9001. Police have appealed to the public to cooperate for smooth and safe New Year celebrations.
