Initially, Noida's Jewar Airport was set to begin its operations from September 29, 2024.

Noida International Airport will commence domestic flight and cargo operations in September 2025, with international services expected to begin by November 2025, Uttar Pradesh’s Industrial Development Minister Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi announced on Saturday. This marks the third revision of the airport’s opening timeline.

The airport initially aimed to open on September 29, 2024, but the deadline was first pushed to April 25 and later to June 30. According to officials, the delays were primarily due to the late start of construction, which was affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. The current year is expected to see the completion and launch of the airport’s first phase, which will have the capacity to serve 12 million passengers annually.

“The progress of the work has been reviews. Noida airport will be fully ready by November,” Gupta said during his two-day review visit to Noida, Greater Noida, and YEIDA (Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority) areas. Lauding the airport, Gupta said that the Jewar Airport will be the largest airport in Asia and the fourth largest in the world

The Noida International Airport in Jewar is being developed in four phases, with a total investment of Rs 29,650 crore. The first phase alone, costing Rs 10,056 crore, will feature one runway and a terminal building capable of handling 12 million passengers annually. Upon completion of all four phases by 2040, the airport will be able to accommodate 70 million passengers each year.

During his visit, Minister Gupta also held discussions on multiple infrastructure projects amounting to Rs 45,148 crore in investment, projected to generate approximately 132,000 jobs. He instructed officials to ensure that all landholding companies begin construction work within the allotted timeframe and complete development as per the approved detailed project report.

Among the key projects discussed were the development of a state-of-the-art hospital near Jewar Airport, the proposed Film City, Fintech City, toy park, furniture park, apparel park, and an MSME cluster.
