Around 2.30 am, the men allegedly separated the woman from her uncle and cousin, intimidated them, and took her to a deserted dhaba on Delhi-Rohtak Road, approximately 100 metres from the metro station. There, she was sexually assaulted.
Following the incident, the family approached the police, who immediately formed multiple teams to trace the suspects. The woman’s statement was recorded, an FIR was registered at the City police station in Bahadurgarh, and a medical examination was conducted. Her statement was also recorded before a magistrate.
Initially, the woman had told officers that some belongings were stolen and did not mention the assault. However, investigators later recovered the digital video recorder (DVR) of a CCTV camera from the dhaba, which captured the sexual assault. "She agreed to give a detailed statement, and her uncle subsequently filed a complaint," the commissioner said.
Investigators revealed that shortly before the assault, the accused had purchased liquor from a nearby shop, paying Rs 100 in cash and the remaining Rs 30 through UPI. Tracing the digital payment account helped police identify the suspects and reconstruct the sequence of events.
Local Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) teams also analysed CCTV footage from the dhaba and surrounding areas to track the movements of the accused. Call detail records, social media activity, and local intelligence inputs further helped narrow down the suspects.
Within eight hours of the crime, four men, residents of Bahadurgarh originally from Bihar and living in rented accommodation in the Chhotu Ramnagar area, were arrested. Police did not reveal their names, as a test identification parade is still pending.
The arrested men were produced before a Bahadurgarh court on Wednesday and remanded in police custody for two days. Efforts are ongoing to identify and apprehend the fifth suspect.
Commissioner Singh said that strict action will be taken against those involved in crimes against women, and no offender will be spared.
