Indore police have launched a manhunt for an unidentified car driver who allegedly killed a 22-year-old petrol pump worker by dragging him with his vehicle after refusing to pay for fuel worth Rs 4,000.
The incident unfolded around 4 am on Wednesday at a petrol pump in the Sanwer police station area. Sub-Divisional Officer of Police Devendra Singh Dhurve was cited as saying by PTI that the driver filled petrol in his car but began driving away without settling the bill.
When worker Rohit Parmar approached the vehicle window to demand payment, the driver grabbed his hand, rolled up the window and dragged him for a long distance, leading to his death, the official stated, as per a TOI report.
CCTV footage captured the car heading towards Ujjain after the attack, though the registration number was not clearly visible, Dhurve added.
Police have registered a case against the driver under charges of culpable homicide not amounting to murder as per the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Eyewitnesses reported four to five persons were inside the car at the time.
Angry locals have demanded the swift arrest of the accused as the search continues.
