A wave of bomb threats, sent via email to prominent private schools in Noida and Ahmedabad on Friday, triggered large-scale security responses and the precautionary evacuation of students just days before Republic Day celebrations.
In Noida, institutions including the Shiv Nadar School, Cambridge School, Billabong High International School, Pathways, Delhi Public School (Sector 30) and Army Public School were among those evacuated. Authorities swiftly deployed senior police officers, personnel from multiple stations, bomb disposal and dog squads, BDDS teams and fire service units to the locations, according to a police press note.
The Noida Police confirmed that, alongside physical inspections by bomb squads and canine units, a dedicated cyber team has launched a technical forensic investigation into the threatening emails. "The situation is normal and complete peace and order have been ensured at all locations. People are advised not to pay attention to rumours," the police stated.
Officials added that a preliminary assessment suggested the threats were "non-specific" in nature. Investigations remain ongoing to trace the source of the communications and ascertain their intent.
The Shiv Nadar School arranged for buses to return students to designated drop-off points. School Principal Anju Soni appealed for cooperation and understanding from parents, who were urged to stay in touch with bus staff while collecting their children.
Simultaneously, several private schools in western Ahmedabad received similar bomb threat emails, prompting parallel security actions. Police, bomb squads and fire brigade teams were dispatched to conduct searches and investigations at the premises.
Across both cities, parents have been advised by authorities to remain calm and rely on official updates as security agencies work to trace the origin of the threats.
