College staff among 3 held for Kolkata law student gang rape in Kasba

Police claimed to have arrested three persons in connection with the alleged gang-rape of a law college student in Kolkata’s Kasba, India Today reported.

As per the report, the incident occurred within the premises of South Calcutta Law College on June 25 between 7.30 pm and 10.50 pm. The accused were arrested on Thursday.

As per the report, the three accused include a former student, a staff member, and an enrolled student of the college. After receiving the complaint, the police carried out a preliminary medical examination of the victim, recorded witness statements, and visited the scene. The college premises, identified as the location of the alleged incident, have been secured for pending forensic examination, the report added.

“We have arrested all the accused. The main accused is the ex-student, and the two others were there. Investigation is on whether the other two were also involved,” a police officer was quoted by The Telegraph Online as saying. As per the report, the accused will be produced in a city court later.
