A fresh wave of bomb threat emails sparked panic across the Delhi-NCR region on Thursday, forcing the evacuation of at least a dozen schools in Noida and three in Delhi on a day when CBSE Class 12 board examinations were underway, according to reports.
The threatening messages, all sent via email, were received by educational institutions on Thursday morning, prompting an immediate security response. In Noida, nearly a dozen schools were targeted, while in the national capital, the threats were sent to CRPF Public School and St Thomas School in Dwarka and DAV Centenary Public School in Paschim Enclave.
Authorities confirmed that upon receiving the alerts, police personnel rushed to the affected schools. Bomb disposal squads and canine units were swiftly deployed to conduct comprehensive searches of the premises. As a precautionary measure, students and staff were evacuated and relocated to safe zones while the verification process was carried out.
An official from the Delhi Fire Services reportedly confirmed the receipt of the emails and the subsequent deployment of emergency response teams. As of the latest reports, no suspicious objects or materials have been discovered, though security agencies continue their thorough checks.
The threats come on the third day of the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) board examinations. Class 12 papers commenced at 10.30 am on Thursday, adding to the stress levels of students and parents arriving at schools already on high alert.
No examinations were scheduled for Class 10. Visuals from outside several affected schools showed anxious parents gathering at the gates as security was tightened and entry points were closely monitored.
A senior police official stated that the threats are being treated with the utmost seriousness. Cybercrime teams have been activated to trace the origin of the emails and identify the perpetrators.
Thursday’s incident has reignited security concerns in the region, coming just weeks after a similar mass hoax. On January 23, approximately 20 schools in Noida received nearly identical bomb threat emails, which were later deemed hoaxes following extensive searches. Investigators are currently probing whether the latest threats are connected to that previous incident.
