A bomb threat email sent to Parul University in Vadodara on Tuesday led to the evacuation of the campus and the cancellation of internal examinations scheduled for the day, prompting authorities to deploy security teams to sweep the premises.
The university asked students to vacate the campus shortly after the threat was received. The evacuation led to heavy traffic congestion in the Waghodia area, where the university is located.
Police teams from several units rushed to the campus after being alerted. Officials from the Local Crime Branch, the Special Operations Group and personnel from the Waghodia Police Station arrived at the site to assist in the response.
Security teams, including the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad, began checking the campus as part of a sanitisation exercise. Officers said the search operation covered multiple areas such as academic buildings and parking zones.
“So far, nothing suspicious has been found on the campus, but sanitising the entire campus will take a couple of hours. The university received the email early this morning. It seems to be part of the multiple emails sent out to different government departments across the state. The cyber crime police are probing the email trail,” the officer said.
University officials said the internal exams that were scheduled to take place on Tuesday will be conducted later.
According to the university, the postponed examinations will now be held a day after the current schedule concludes.
Parul University has more than 65,000 students enrolled across different courses and departments, including students from 29 countries.
