Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles (TMPV) will launch the Tata Punch facelift in the country on January 13. Ahead of the micro-SUV's market entry, the company has shared details regarding its variants, features and colour options.
According to a post shared on Tata Punch's official Instagram handle, the facelifted version will have six variants -- Smart, Pure, Pure+, Adventure, Accomplished and Accomplished + S.
The following are some of the variant-wise features of the Tata Punch facelift.
Smart -- Six airbags, LED headlamps, Eco and City drive modes, ESP, remote keyless entry, and iTPMS, among others.
Pure (features over Smart) -- rear AC vents, steering-mounted controls, central console with armrest, rear defogger, day-night IRVM, among others.
Pure+ (features over Pure) -- 8-inch HD touchscreen infotainment, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, HD reverse camera, cruise control, USB type-C fast charger, and height-adjustable driver seat, among others.
Adventure (features over Pure+) -- 360-degree camera, blind view monitor, push start button, rear wiper and washer, automatic climate control, 15-inch styled wheels, automatic headlamps, and rain sensing wipers, among others.
Accomplished (features over Adventure) -- LED DRLs, LED taillamps, 16-inch alloy wheels, 10.25-inch HD touchscreen infotainment, extended thigh support seats, and touch automatic climate control, among others.
Accomplished + S (features over Accomplished) -- LED fog lamps with cornering function, voice-assisted electric sunroof, 7-inch HD digital instrument panel, wireless phone charger, auto-dimming IRVM, and iRA connectivity, among others.
Besides, the micro-SUV will be available in six colour options -- Coorg Cloud, Pristine White, Daytona Grey, Bengal Rouge, Caramel and Cyantific. Some of these colours have been taken from the recently-launched Tata Sierra.
We expect the Punch facelift to get the powertrains from the outgoing version, which is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine (88PS of maximum power and 115Nm of peak torque) mated to a 5-speed MT or a 5-speed AMT. There is also a CNG option (73PS and 103Nm) with a 5-speed MT.
Additionally, there will be a turbo-petrol engine. This could be the Tata Nexon's 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine (120PS and 170Nm) with a 6-speed MT and a 6-speed AMT choices.
While the outgoing Punch is priced between Rs 5.50 lakh and Rs 9.30 lakh (ex-showroom), we expect the Punch facelift price to be from Rs 5.75 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom). We expect Tata to keep the Punch facelift relatively affordable to ensure that it keeps churning high volumes.
While in terms of body style, the Tata Punch directly rivals the Hyundai Exter, it also challenges the Maruti Suzuki Swift, which is a popular hatchback in a similar price range.
The Punch is among the largest-selling SUVs in India. It is the fastest SUV in the country to cross the sales milestone of 6 lakh units, achieving the mark in under four years. Along with the Nexon, the Punch has played a key role in establishing Tata as a major player in the SUV space.
