Snapshot AI
  • Mahindra to launch XUV 7XO facelift in India with updated design and features.
  • New triple screen setup, Harman Kardon audio with Dolby Atmos and Level 2+ ADAS added.
  • Expected price range: Rs 14-26 lakh (ex-showroom).

The country's largest SUV manufacturer, Mahindra & Mahindra, will launch the XUV 7XO, the facelifted version of the XUV700, in India today. Initially introduced in August 2021, this SUV has clocked sales of over 3,00,000 units, solidifying the company's position in the bourgeoning SUV segment.

The new Mahindra XUV 7XO has been teased on multiple occasions, showcasing several fresh bells and whistles it has received. These new additions are expected to improve the package, which is already liked by the masses in its present avatar. Bookings for the updated model opened last month for a token amount of Rs 21,000.

While the silhouette remains similar, Mahindra has updated the front with a new grille, flanked by updated LED headlamps. The LED DRLs might remind you of the units we have seen on the smaller Mahindra XUV 3XO. At the rear, you will find an updated set of LED taillamps, inspired by that of the newly-launched Mahindra XEV 9S electric SUV. The XUV 7XO will drive on a new set of alloy wheels, but we will have to wait for the official announcement to check the size.

The teasers we have seen so far point to drastic changes inside the cabin. There is a new dual-tone colour theme all across. The dashboard layout has been updated and now boasts a triple screen set-up, for instrument cluster, centre infotainment and co-driver display, just like the XEV 9S. The steering wheel has been borrowed from the electric SUV as well. The XUV 7XO also gets a Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos and powered boss mode for the co-driver seat.

Other than all these features, the XUV 7XO is also expected to get seat ventilation in the first and second rows, powered driver seat with memory, a panoramic sunroof, seven airbags and Level 2+ ADAS.

When it comes to the powertrain, we do not expect Mahindra to make any changes in this department. On offer will be petrol as well as diesel options with manual and automatic transmission choices. The company is also expected to retain the AWD option.

For reference, the XUV700 has two engine options. The petrol version uses a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine producing 197hp and 380Nm of torque. It is available with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission. The diesel option is a 2.2-litre unit offered in two states of tune. The lower-output version delivers 153hp and 360Nm and is paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox. The higher-output version produces 182hp, with torque rated at 420Nm for the manual and 450Nm for the automatic.

The outgoing XUV700 is priced between Rs 13,65,800 and Rs 25,14,000 (ex-showroom). We expect Mahindra to be quite aggressive with the XUV 7XO price.

Looking at the competition in the segment where the outgoing XUV700 is based, we expect the Mahindra XUV 7XO price to range between Rs 14,00,000 and Rs 26,00,000 (ex-showroom). The facelifted version will compete with the Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar and MG Hector Plus.
