Jharkhand takes initiative for more tea plantation

Jamshedpur (Jharkhand), Feb 9 (PTI) Jharkhand Government has taken initiative to promote Tea plantation in the industrial district of Seraikela-Kharswan and the field work in this regard was in the final stages, a senior district official today said. "We have decided to promote tea plantation on experimental basis and the field work in this regard is in final stages," District Horticulture Officer (DHO), Arun Kumar Singh, said. "Initially, we will plant around 2700 tea saplings in government-owned nursery in Seraikela by the end of this month," Singh told PTI. The plantation will be undertaken over half acres of land in Government Nursery existing over 25 acres of land, he said adding that the saplings will be provided by the National Seeds Corporation. The district officials have sought the help of expertise from Demotand, Hazaribagh, where tea plantation was going on for last three/four years, he said. Besides Hazaribagh, the tea plantation was taking place in Ranchi district in the past and even had tea garden.
