WhatsApp may soon feature an option that enables users to delete sent messages for everyone. As per a recent leak that is doing rounds, the instant messaging app has started testing the ‘Delete for Everyone’ feature.

In a tweet that appeared on Monday, tipster WABetaInfo stated that the new recall service is working successfully. It also said that though the server is working, it does not imply that the feature is currently enabled.

The tipster added that the feature will be enabled pretty soon. And once enabled, the feature will work on both Android and iOS devices. It will also be able to delete messages from the notification centre as well.

The feature is already available in several other messaging apps like Telegram, Viber among others. In some apps, the feature allows user to revoke messages that are yet to be seen by the recipients.

In certain other apps, the user can recall and delete sent messages from both phones i.e. his own and that of the recipient irrespective of whether the latter has seen it or not. Presently no such functionalities are available in WhatsApp.

The new update is one among the many new features introduced this year by the Facebook-owned company which is used daily by over a billion people. It had recently announced the ‘WhatsApp for Business’ feature and also launched a new status feature.
