The controversy over Taj Mahal is far from over. Now, actor Prakash Raj jumped into it and asked if the world's wonder be a part of our future.

The veteran actor who has worked in movies of various languages posted a tweet and asked, “Will this worlds (sic) wonder #tajmahal be a past in our future ..???”

Along with the question, he also posted a picture with text which read: To whomsoever, it may concern. Since you have started digging at the foundation of #tajmahal, when do you intend to bring it down? We can at least take our children and show it one last time. #Justasking.

His tweet comes after BJP MLA from UP, Sangeet Som courted controversy when he said that Taj Mahal was "a blot on Indian culture". "Many people were disappointed that the Taj Mahal was removed from UP tourism booklet. What history are we talking about? The creator of Taj Mahal (Shahjahan) imprisoned his father. He wanted to wipe out Hindus. If these people are part of our history, then it is very sad and we will change this history," said Som.

However, later UP CM Yogi Adityanath and other BJP leaders distanced themselves away from the statement. "It is immaterial as to who and how the Taj Mahal was built... It was made by the sweat and blood of Bharat Mata's sons," the chief minister had said.
