India's largest telecom player Bharti Airtel's accounts are being inspected under section 209(A) of the Company's Act, reports CNBC-TV18's Malvika Jain.
The Regional Director of Ministry of Corporate Affairs and the Registrar of Companies (RoC) had received several complaints against six telecom companies. However, it is only Bharti Airtel against whom the RoC and Regional Directors (RD) noticed certain violations of the Company’s Act because of which an inspection has been ordered.
The other companies against whom complaints were received include Vodafone, Idea and Reliance Communications.
Basically, inspection of accounts means that all the records and books of accounts of the company will be inspected by the officials of the MCA to ensure that they are in compliance with the requirements of the Company’s Act.
Of course, the company has said that it is fully compliant and that it has provided all the documents to the officials of the ministry. It believes that there is no violation on its part.
