Asia trades lower; Hang Seng, Shanghai Composite slip 1%

Asian markets were trading lower on Wednesday. Seoul Composite and Shanghai Composite were down nearly 1 percent.

Asian equity markets followed their Wall Street peers lower on Wednesday as heightened talk about a scaling back of the Federal Reserve's monetary stimulus weighed on sentiment.


China's Shanghai Composite slipped 0.91 percent or 19.38 points at 2,107.39.


Hong Kong's Hang Seng plunged 1.14 percent or 262.01 points at 22,639.40. 


Japan's Nikkei shed 0.43 percent or 62.87 points at 14,525.81. 


Singapore's Straits Times was down 0.22 percent or 7.13 points at 3,173.12. 


South Korea's Seoul Composite shed 0.82 percent or 16.30 points at 1,979.18. 


Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted declined 0.23 percent or 19.16 points at 8,176.10.
