Tyler Robinson, 22, the man accused of killing conservative activist Charlie Kirk, allegedly confessed to the crime in a series of text messages to his transgender partner, according to court documents. Kirk, 31, the founder of Turning Point USA, was shot in the neck while speaking at Utah Valley University on September 10.
Robinson was taken into custody a day after the shooting and made his first appearance in a Utah court after being charged with murder. The case has drawn attention from President Donald Trump and his allies, who cite it as evidence of rising political violence against conservatives.
Court filings indicate Robinson wrote to his roommate and partner, “I had enough of his hatred. Some hate can't be negotiated out.” He reportedly admitted to planning the killing for a week and left a handwritten note under a keyboard stating, “I had the opportunity to take out Charlie Kirk and I'm going to take it.”
Candace Owens flat-out says the text messages of Tyler Robinson released by the United States government are doctored and fake. She claims the messages were cherry-picked and placed strategically to push a specific narrative.

Utah County Attorney Jeff Gray confirmed that Robinson’s DNA was found on the trigger of the bolt-action rifle used in the attack and noted that both handwritten and digital evidence point to him. “The murder of Charlie Kirk is an American tragedy,” Gray said.
The texts exchanged with Robinson’s partner initially included reassurances but eventually became confessions. Online, the messages have sparked scepticism, with some users claiming they were “scripted” or doctored. Right-wing commentator Candace Owens questioned their authenticity, tweeting: “These messages are clearly doctored. They should be released with timestamps and every single message made public.”
