Azerbaijan has introduced visa-free entry for citizens of Oman for a one-year period starting February 15, 2026. The facility will remain valid until February 15, 2027, according to Oman’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The decision eliminates the need for Omani passport holders to apply for a visa in advance, streamlining travel procedures. It comes amid expanding diplomatic, tourism and commercial engagement between the two countries.
Located at the crossroads of Eastern Europe and West Asia, Azerbaijan has positioned itself as a transit and tourism hub connecting the Middle East, Central Asia and Europe. Improved air connectivity and focused outreach in Gulf markets have supported rising visitor numbers in recent years.
The capital, Baku, has been central to that growth. Overlooking the Caspian Sea, the city combines contemporary landmarks such as the Flame Towers with the UNESCO-listed Old City (Icherisheher). Beyond Baku, destinations including Gabala’s mountain resorts and the petroglyph and mud volcano sites near Gobustan continue to attract international travellers.
Stay limit and visit rules
Under the new arrangement, Omani passport holders can stay in Azerbaijan for up to 30 days per visit without obtaining a prior visa. The policy permits up to three visits during the one-year validity window. The move is expected to ease short-term travel for tourism and business, while also reflecting improving diplomatic ties between the two countries.
Entry requirements travellers must meet
Despite the visa waiver, travellers will need to meet standard documentation norms. Omani citizens must carry:
These requirements are consistent with international travel practices and are aimed at ensuring adequate documentation and medical coverage during visits. Authorities have advised travellers to verify compliance before departure to avoid inconvenience at immigration checkpoints.
Broader implications
The visa-free window is expected to support increased mobility and closer economic engagement over the coming year. Areas such as energy cooperation, logistics, infrastructure development and hospitality remain key pillars of bilateral interaction.
The exemption is currently time-bound until February 15, 2027. Any extension or transition into a longer-term arrangement will depend on future diplomatic discussions and travel flows between the two nations.
Travellers planning visits during this period are advised to review official travel advisories and ensure compliance with entry requirements before departure.
