G. Parameshwara is the current Deputy Chief Minister and Home Minister of Karnataka, a senior leader from the Congress Party, and a former state minister with extensive experience in education, health, and agriculture portfolios.
He holds a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Agriculture from Bangalore, and a Ph.D. in Plant Physiology from the University of Adelaide. He also has research experience at the University of Agricultural Sciences and administrative experience at Siddhartha University.
He has been elected to the Assembly six times—three terms from Madhugiri and three terms from Koratagere.
He served as President of Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) from 2010 to 2018, making him the party’s longest-serving state president in Karnataka, and is known for his strategic leadership.
Over his career, he has served as Minister for Sericulture, Higher Education, Science and Technology, Medical Education, Home Affairs, and was Deputy Chief Minister in the 2018–19 coalition government.
