YouTube Music is getting a small but super useful update that many music lovers will appreciate. The app, which comes bundled with a YouTube Premium subscription, has quietly added a new “double-tap to like” feature — something users might not have noticed missing, but would definitely feel odd without.
As per a report by Android Authority, with the latest version of YouTube Music (v8.14.53A), you can now double-tap on the center of the album cover while a song is playing to instantly like it. Once you do that, the track automatically gets added to your Liked Songs playlist.
Until now, double-tapping the center of the album art didn’t do anything. If you tapped on the sides of the screen, it would just skip forward or backward in the song. But with this new update, YouTube Music is finally catching up with what users are used to on apps like TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts, where double-tapping to like something has become second nature.
It’s a small, quality-of-life change, but it makes a big difference for people who listen to a lot of music. Now, you don’t have to go hunting for the tiny like button while listening to your favorite tracks — just a quick double-tap on the screen, and it’s saved.
Over time, Google has slowly been adding new features to make sure YouTube Music doesn’t feel left behind, and this little tweak shows they're paying attention to how people actually use their apps.If you haven’t spotted it yet, make sure your YouTube Music app is updated to the latest version.
