The year 2025 stood out for hardware experimentation. Smartphone makers explored new folding designs and ultra-thin builds, while wearables moved closer to becoming everyday AI companions. Camera brands also pushed modularity, letting phones adapt to professional photography needs. Here are five gadgets that defined these shifts in 2025.
Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold
Samsung introduced the Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold, its first mass-produced smartphone with a triple-folding design. The dual-hinge mechanism allows the device to expand from a 6.5-inch phone into a 10.2-inch tablet-sized display. Built with a titanium frame and dual-rail hinge system, it maintains a 12.9mm thickness when folded. Powering the device is a customised Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with a 5,600mAh battery split across three panels to balance weight and endurance.
Apple iPhone Air
Apple unveiled the Apple iPhone Air in late 2025, focusing on minimalism and reduced bulk. At 5.6mm thick and 165 grams, it became the thinnest iPhone to date. The phone features a 6.5-inch Super Retina XDR display, a single 48MP rear camera, and uses a Grade 5 titanium frame with Ceramic Shield 2. Apple’s A19 Pro chip handles performance and on-device AI tasks.
Ray-Ban Meta display glasses
The 2025 version of Ray-Ban Meta display glasses added a micro-LED display projected directly onto the lens. With a 20-degree field of view and brightness reaching 5,000 nits, the display remains readable outdoors. Users can see live captions, navigation cues, and notifications. The glasses pair with a Neural Band wrist device, enabling gesture-based controls through subtle finger movements.
NeoSapian Neo 1 recorder
NeoSapian Neo 1 is an AI-first wearable designed as a personal memory assistant. Worn as a pendant, it records conversations and meetings throughout the day. Using Neo OS, the device transcribes speech, analyses emotional cues, and generates searchable summaries. Users can later query the AI about past discussions, positioning it as a secondary digital memory for work and personal use.
Vivo X300 Pro and Oppo Find X9 Ultra lens kits
Vivo and Oppo expanded mobile photography with external lens kits for their flagship phones. The Vivo X300 Pro lens kit focuses on extreme zoom for wildlife photography, while the Oppo Find X9 Ultra teleconverter, tuned with Hasselblad, prioritises optical clarity and colour accuracy at longer focal lengths. These attach directly to the phone’s camera module, offering hardware-level flexibility.
