Vivo and iQOO smartphones are finally shifting from the Funtouch OS skin in India, as the brands are set to unveil the earlier China-exclusive Origin OS here. Vivo has already rebranded the Funtouch OS India page on X (formerly known as Twitter) to OriginOS, suggesting that the UI would soon be replaced in the Indian market. With this new operating system, Vivo and iQOO users are expected to get a more refined, customizable, and feature-rich UI.
Origin OS 6 set to launch in India soon
iQOO India CEO Nipun Marya, through a new post on X, has announced that Origin OS 6 will soon launch in India. This upcoming UI is built on the latest Android 16 operating system and will replace the Funtouch OS 15 skin, based on Android 15. Currently, Vivo and iQOO smartphone models run on the Funtouch OS skin in India, while their Chinese counterparts run Origin OS.
Origin OS is said to be cleaner and come with fluid animations. Further, it has widget-focused layouts and offers a more refined feel with plenty of customisation options. Though the company hasn’t revealed which handsets will be the first to ship with OriginOS 6, the upcoming iQOO 15 series and Vivo X300 series are widely expected to be among the earliest devices to debut with this OS.
It will also be interesting to see how both companies integrate Origin OS in India, as OriginOS available in China does not have the Google Play Store or any other Google services. Vivo has already confirmed that Origin OS 6 in China will be unveiled on October 10, with a global release schedule expected to follow soon.
