OnePlus Open, the company’s first foldable smartphone, is now getting a new ‘Apex Edition’ with a Crimson Shadow (red) colour. The smartphone was earlier launched with Emerald Dusk and Voyager Black colourways at the start of the year. Like the black color variant, this new shade also appears to have a leather texture design at the back.
OnePlus Open ‘Apex Edition’: Key detailsOnePlus has shared a teaser of the new OnePlus Open ‘Apex Edition’ on X (formerly Twitter) with the Crimson Shadow shade. The company has said that this new Apex Edition pays homage to the iconic Hasselblad 503CW 60 Years Victor Red Edition, blending premium vegan leather with a captivating design that exudes timelessness.
The teaser image also reveals a diamond-like pattern and orange accents on the alert slider. However, the ‘Apex Edition’ isn't likely to be an upgrade or the successor of the foldable smartphone. It is more likely that it would be more of an enhanced edition. The placeholder on the OnePlus Open landing page also suggests that a different RAM and storage option may be launched.
The OnePlus Open is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. It has a 6.31-inch cover screen and a 7.82-inch unfolded screen. The foldable comes with a triple-camera setup with Hasselblad tuning. It is currently available with a single 16GB RAM and 512GB variant with UFS 4.0 storage. The Open boots with OxygenOS 13.2 based on Android 13, but is upgradable to Android 14.
