OnePlus has announced an investment of Rs. 6000 crores under the Project Starlight initiative. It aims to accelerate product innovation and improve services for Indian users. As part of the initiative, the Chinese company has said that it would be focussing on solving India-specific device issues and developing features beneficial to Indian users.
Project Starlight: What it means for OnePlus smartphone users
OnePlus has issued a press release where the company has confirmed that it plans to increase the number of its service centres in India by 50% within the first half of 2026. OnePlus will also introduce the world’s first A++ display with its upcoming flagship device, the OnePlus 13. This display technology will offer superior clarity, improved brightness, and vibrant colors, even under direct sunlight.
Many OnePlus users in the past couple of years have faced green line issues on their smartphone’s display. To address this, OnePlus has confirmed that it will implement a protective layer on top of its AMOLED displays. The company has also assured that it will do more rigorous hardware testing and offer a lifetime warranty on all of its devices, providing users with greater confidence in their purchase.
The company is also focusing on features that cater specifically to Indian users, with an emphasis on AI functionalities and high-speed connectivity. The upcoming OnePlus 13 will be the first device to arrive with support for 5G-Advanced (5.5G) cellular network support in India, which is claimed to offer an average speed enhancement of up to 380%.
Moreover, Steady Connect, a new Bluetooth feature, will extend connection ranges up to 360 meters, allowing better connectivity in crowded areas like gyms or metro stations.
