How to get 20% flat discount on train ticket booking: A step-by-step guide, eligible trains, offer validity and other details to keep in mind

Indian Railways has introduced a Round Trip Scheme that allows passengers to avail a flat 20 per cent discount on train tickets. The scheme applies when both onward and return journey tickets are booked for the same set of passengers. With bookings already open for select dates, passengers can use the newly launched RailOne app or opt for offline counters to access the offer.

Eligible trains and travel dates

The scheme applies to tickets booked for trains originating from the passenger’s source station under the Advance Reservation Period (ARP). For the current cycle:
• Onward journey dates: October 13 to October 26, 2025
• Return journey dates: November 17 to December 1, 2025

The discount is only available when the return trip involves the same passenger list, class of travel, and station pair as the onward journey.

Step-by-step guide to book via RailOne app
1. Download and login: Install the RailOne app, available for Android and iOS. Login using mPIN or biometric authentication.
2. Select the scheme: Go to the ‘Avail Festive Package’ section to begin the Round Trip booking.
3. Book onward ticket: Enter departure and destination stations, choose the date (within October 13–26), select quota, and proceed with booking. After payment, a PNR confirmation will be generated.
4. Book return ticket: Once the onward ticket is confirmed, select “Book Return Ticket (20% Discount).” The app will auto-fill the same station pair, passenger details, and travel class. Choose a return date within November 17–December 1.
5. Payment and confirmation: Complete the payment process to secure the return ticket with the 20 per cent rebate.

Things to keep in mind
• The scheme is valid only when both journeys are booked under the same criteria.
• Tickets can also be booked at offline counters with the same benefits.
• Dates outside the specified window will not be eligible for the discount.
