Over the last few years, Google’s Pixel smartphones have faced criticism over performance, especially heating or slower graphics performance issues, after the company moved to its in-house Tensor chipsets. This year, though, Google says that the Pixel 10’s Tensor G5 is its “biggest leap in performance yet,” and it is the first Tensor chipset to be manufactured by TSMC, traditionally over Exynos, after which users can expect major performance gains. However, the latest benchmarking tests of the chipset paint a completely different story.
Google Pixel 10 Pro XL’s Tensor G5 AnTuTu scores: Key detailsA Reddit user named ‘@yAlphax’ has shared the AnTuTu scores of their Google Pixel 10 Pro XL handset, which is powered by the Tensor G5 SoC, like the other smartphones in the latest Pixel 10 series. According to the post, the flagship phone achieved a total score of 1,173,221 points, which places it similar to the scores of phones powered by the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which is last year’s premium chipset.
In terms of CPU score, the device gets a CPU score of 415,848 points, according to the report, placing it on par with processors such as the Snapdragon 8s Gen 4 or the MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chips. Although it marks roughly a 15% boost compared to the preceding Pixel 9 Pro XL, which was backed by the Tensor G4 chipset, the numbers suggest that the performance is still behind the latest flagship chipsets, such as the Snapdragon 8 Elite or the MediaTek Dimensity 9400.
On the GPU side, PowerVR's IMG DXT-48-1536 on the Pixel 10 Pro XL delivers a score of 367,206 points, which reveals about a 20% drop in GPU from last generation. It also means that Tensor G5's GPU performs similarly to the four-year-old Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. Hence, the Antutu scores of the Tensor G5 are nothing to write home about, and confirm that Tensor remains far off the pace of the best chipsets currently.
